Mr. Connecticut Bear Inc., and Nortrhast Ursamen, Inc., Announce
Transition Plans for Mr. Connecticut Bear Title

Hartford, CT - Mr. Connecticut Bear, Inc., and Northeast Ursamen, Inc., today announced that their boards of directors agreed to a transfer of ownership of the "Mr. Connecticut Bear" title from Mr. Connecticut Bear, Inc. to Northeast Ursamen, Inc. Shortly after Mr. Connecticut Bear, Inc., announced in May its intentions to dissolve, the two organizations entered into conversations about the future of the title, which led to the current agreement of the transfer of the title.

The "Mr. Connecticut Bear" successfully produced three contests weekends from 2012 through 2014 after acquiring the title from the Twilight Guard. Following the 2014 contest weekend, the Northeast Ursamen moved to end their interest in the title for various reasons, which led to the creation of Mr. Connecticut Bear, Inc. as a separate organization in the fall of 2014. Mr. Connecticut Bear, Inc. produced two contest weekends, including the enormously successful "Connecticut Bear Weekend" in the summer of 2016.

Mr. Connecticut Bear President, David Bielski, said, "We feel very strongly that the title should return to the Northeast Ursamen, the cornerstone organization from which we acquired it. They have produced this title in the past with great success, and we have great confidence that they will do good things with the title for the Connecticut Bear community."

Northeast Ursamen President, David Rospo, said, "We are honored that title of Mr. Connecticut Bear is coming back to the Ursamen. We will do everything we can to continue the legacy that has become such an important part of the bear community in our state."

In order to ensure continuity, the Northeast Ursamen have expressed its intent to convene the next Mr. Connecticut Bear contest in early 2018, so that there will be no lapse in title years. The current Mr. Connecticut Bear 2017, Mark Richards, would step down at that time.

Both Mr. Connecticut Bear, Inc. and Northeast Ursamen, Inc. wish to express their combined thanks to all those who have supported the title over the years, including attendees, volunteers, past sponsors, advertisers, and strategic partners, who helped make Mr. Connecticut Bear a success. The boards also wish to thank the five Mr. Connecticut Bear titleholders, who have worked tirelessly to build bridges in the community, raise awareness of causes and issues, and have raised thousands of dollars in charitable donations over the years.

Future plans for Mr. Connecticut Bear will be announced at a later date on the Northeast Ursamen webpage,, and on their Facebook page.

Dear Friends,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce today that due to unforeseen circumstances, this year's Connecticut Bear Weekend is hereby cancelled. The event being held at the Meriden Sheraton from August 4-6, 2017, will not be held. If you have reserved a room, please contact the hotel directly to cancel your room reservation. We would like to first thank our current sponsors, the Northeast Ursamen, and Tom Matt, for their support of our endeavors; both sponsors will be refunded in full in the coming week. We would also like to thank all those who have supported us in any way over the last five years. We would like to thank all our past sponsors, and all the volunteers who helped us to build a better Mr. Connecticut Bear. We could not have achieved our success without them and without all of you.

In tandem with this decision, the Board of Directors of Mr. Connecticut Bear, Inc. has voted to dissolve the corporation. We will be publishing more information about the future of the Mr. Connecticut Bear title in the coming weeks. Please continue to support your local bear community as you have supported us.

Kind Regards,
Skeeter, Harry B., & Richard
